more of the same

As the last bastion against all things status quo in the Beltway, El-Presidente Electo Obama, fights the power and the establishment. As he brings his audacity of hope, change and to fight things that go bump in the night, he shows his true self.
1st - VP Biden, the lifer who redefines blowhard
2nd - Sec of State, Queen Hillary, never heard of her, from Hitch
Both President and Sen. Clinton, while in office, made it obvious to foreign powers that they and their relatives were wide open to suggestions from lobbyists and middlemen.

Just to give the most salient examples from the Clinton fundraising scandals of the late 1990s: The House Committee on Government Reform and Oversight published a list of witnesses called before it who had either "fled or pled"—in other words, who had left the country to avoid testifying or invoked the Fifth Amendment to avoid self-incrimination. Some Democratic members of the committee said that this was unfair to, say, the Buddhist nuns who raised the unlawful California temple dough for then-Vice President Al Gore, but however fair you want to be, the number of those who found it highly inconvenient to testify fluctuates between 94 and 120. If you recall the names John Huang, James Riady, Johnny Chung, Charlie Trie, and others, you will remember the pattern of acquired amnesia syndrome and stubborn reluctance to testify, followed by sudden willingness on the part of the Democratic National Committee to return quite large sums of money from foreign sources.

3rd - AG Holder, nothing to see here, from Cohen
Soon after Bill Clinton pardoned Marc Rich, the former president and I had a brief telephone conversation. I had been downright heated about the pardon, a lot angrier than I had ever been about Monica Lewinsky. Clinton implied that I had things historically backward. Long after the Rich pardon had been forgotten, he said, the Lewinsky scandal would remain a vivid memory. That day is yet to come. The Rich pardon is back.

The vehicle for this lingering echo from the year 2001 is the choice of Eric Holder as Barack Obama's attorney general. Holder was Clinton's deputy attorney general and he played a significant role in the pardon. When asked by the White House what he thought about a pardon for Rich, Holder replied, "Neutral, leaning towards favorable." These four words have stalked him ever since.

4th UN Ambassador Rice, not the read deal known as Condi. She was a "protege" of Albright, more Clinton. And we know how effective Albright was. From my original blog,

How are both alike?

Give up?

Both are one night stands.

The Code Pink moonbats represent all the liberal grassrooters whom obama/pelosi used to get elected.
And the lady feebly hiding herself had a cosmo induced encounter the previous eve.
Either way, someone got used and should have known better.

Another mindless post

Expect erratic random inane posts over the summer. Coherence is soooo overrated.

This in and a shocking development. Communism is a crappy economic system.

CARDENAS, Cuba -- Loraicys is 27 years old, has never worked, and refuses to
take just any job. She is not alone.

As Raúl Castro embarks on an
ambitious plan to kick-start the communist nation's economy, he faces daunting
challenges: Many Cubans simply do not work.

Decades of measly salaries
and vast government subsidies have kept many young people off the labor rolls
because it's more lucrative to hustle on the street. Others live comfortably
enough off remittances from Miami and elsewhere.

See! The slacker culture my generation refined during the 90s has finally dealt a harsh blow to Cuba! If McDonald's, the Pope and the late great Dutch tore down the Iron Curtain with capitalism and human dignity, we can do it in by sending flannel shirts and Starbucks. It looks like they have mastered the "living off their parents" thing down.
Now, if they could find a way to get their hands on royalties off of the juvenile and asinine Che icon marketing items, then the money would really roll in.

Get in while I can

It's Pogo badge day, thus my wife will have the computer. Must get maximum blogging in.

The usual astute Austin Bay sums up al-Sadr's latest attempt at manhood. If al-Sadr were any less manly, you'd think think that brillo pad on his chin was glued on.

In southern Iraq and east Baghdad, Sadr once again lost street face. Despite the predictable media umbrage, this translates into political deterioration.

Ted Turner has bit so hard into the global warming cowpie, he thinks we will be reduced to cannibalism.
Not doing it will be catastrophic. We'll be eight degrees hottest in ten, not ten but 30 or 40 years and basically none of the crops will grow. Most of the people will have died and the rest of us will be cannibals.

And finally, that tramp we know and love as our NBA commish is trying to get his swerve on. The mostest honestest news source on the web, the Onion, has this breaking story of lust and corruption in the cage. If David Stern were to take cues from his more moral name sharer, Howard, this would not have happened.
Sources close to the NBA commissioner say David Stern may yet succumb to the powerfully intoxicating sexual advances of Miami head coach Pat Riley and, in so doing, be convinced to allow the 12-57 Heat to enter the playoffs.

He should have taken his cues from this man of integrity ...

I'm on to her

Dude, this does not help you shake the "robot" image.

Wait ...

I've seen the red jacket before. Ahhhhhhhh, she's an alien from the sci-fi classic "V!" She is here to harvest our bodies. Now I get, the real reason behind the national health care plan. There will be a national database to act as a menu for her minions. The horror, the horror!
And if you like to see what the person with the last name Hillary (who is a real hero) this is a panoramic view of Mt. Everest, you may need Quicktime.

A Little Help From The Land of Obob

This one goes out to all the parents/grandparents/aunts or uncles and other cast of characters who gets to help open toys post-chaos. I do not know the technical name of these wire cutters (pictured below). All I know, they work as well as MOAB on a bunker. A thousand apologies for forgetting to post this earlier. We started opening gifts today, my side of the family.

But to the heartless bastard who came up with these wires that bind the toys to cardboard like the chains that bound Prometheus, I will find you. I will extract my revenge. The wimps in Congress thought waterboarding was horrific and inhumane, no comparison. You get me terrorist and a multi-wired toy to open with an impatient 2, 4 & 7 year old. They'll tell me not only where bin laden is, but if they buy into that 72 virgin crap.

So What's The Point

Of course if you write a sarcastic lettter you should be in Gitmo. All those innocent bystanders in Gitmo were just playing with objects shaped like guns and explosives. And the "Death to American Infidels!" remarks ... they were saying "Seth has a beer can on his shelf!" Big misunderstanding. (This is a little known joke in the Muslim community that goes back to their zany college days.)

Can I Buy A Vowel

The High Priest of the Environment spoke and there was silence!
Al Gore, through a Herculean effort, was able to quote everyone under the historical sun by direct quote or reference.
Let's review, he gets and Oscar for a propaganda piece with more half truths and scientific mumbo jumbo. Then a Nobel Peace Prize, Arafat got one (until it was stolen and going for $31.99 on e-bay.)
But this little piece he put out almost caused me to drive my bald forehead through my solid oak desk. Had it not been for students in the vicinity and tipping my hat politically, it would have ugly.
First I love how he tries to sound religious:

I have a purpose here today. It is a purpose I have tried to serve for many years. I have prayed that God would show me a way to accomplish it.

I thought of Steve Martin in the The Jerk when he realized his "special purpose."
There are more samplings in this speech than a rap album:

  • One hundred and nineteen years ago, a wealthy inventor read his own obituary, mistakenly published years before his death. Wrongly believing the inventor had just died, a newspaper printed a harsh judgment of his life's work, unfairly labeling him "The Merchant of Death" because of his invention--dynamite. Shaken by this condemnation, t he inventor made a fateful choice to serve the cause of peace.
Seven years later, Alfred Nobel created this prize and the others that bear his name.

  • the words of an ancient prophet: "Life or death, blessings or curses. Therefore, choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live."

  • Winston Churchill applied to those who ignored Adolf Hitler's threat: "They go on in strange paradox, decided only to be undecided, resolved to be irresolute, adamant for drift, solid for fluidity, all powerful to be impotent."

  • Yet as George Orwell reminds us: "Sooner or later a false belief bumps up against solid reality, usually on a battlefield."

  • Now, we and the earth's climate are locked in a relationship familiar to war planners: "Mutually assured destruction."

  • As the American poet Robert Frost wrote, "Some say the world will end in fire; some say in ice." Either, he notes, "would suffice."

  • Mahatma Gandhi awakened the largest democracy on earth and forged a shared resolve with what he called "Satyagraha"--or "truth force."

  • Mahatma Gandhi awakened the largest democracy on earth and forged a shared resolve with what he called "Satyagraha"--or "truth force."

  • One of their visionary leaders said, "It is time we steered by the stars and not by the lights of every passing ship."

  • of course, this classic

  • In the Kanji characters used in both Chinese and Japanese, "crisis" is written with two symbols, the first meaning "danger," the second "opportunity."

  • In the words of the Spanish poet, Antonio Machado, "Pathwalker, there is no path. You must make the path as you walk."

  • The great Norwegian playwright, Henrik Ibsen, wrote, "One of these days, the younger generation will come knocking at my door."

  • Make no mistake, the next generation will ask us one of two questions. Either they will ask: "What were you thinking; why didn't you act?" Or they will ask instead: "How did you find the moral courage to rise and successfully resolve a crisis that so many said was impossible to solve?"

  • What disappointed me is the failure to mention the immortal words of Beck
"I got two turntables and microphone!"

    Obob Frustrated

  • the Cubs got swept by the Marlins. This close to the playoffs and I have to hope the Padres can kill off the Brewers. I hope the Padres believe in the 18th Amendment. But we have Bill Murray as a Cubs fan:
Chicago began the day with a two-game lead over second-place Milwaukee. Murray said he's so eager to root the Cubs to a division title that he may fly to Cincinnati for their final regular-season series this weekend.
"I've never been to Cincinnati, and I was trying to keep that record intact," Murray said. "But I may have to go."
Some say the Cubs wouldn't be the same lovable team if they won the World Series, a notion Murray dismissed.
"I don't accept that," he said. "That's sick thinking. You've got to watch out for people like that."

  • my girls got creamed by the Brazilians. Either way, I am always proud of them because the play like they have a pair.

  • the Bears will be missing five starters on defense Sunday against the Lions. And Sexy Rexy got the hook. And the Packers are undefeated so thus, we get media man love of Brett Farvaraar from the media. It is more grotesque then Helen Thomas yearning for Bill Clinton. I was going to put the birth control inducing picture of her and Billy, but this was far more immature.

The Sunnis and Shiites got squat on these two

It's a cat fight. Get it?

I must be lazy, I'm going to the NYT again for a post. It's an article about the growing tension of Barak and Clinton. And I thought the Paris/Lindsey thing was national news. Christ, I hope that charming Rosie O'Donnell and liberal Elizabeth Hasselback on the View never disagree

The relationship began to change when Mr. Obama began musing aloud about a presidential bid. The day he opened his exploratory committee, several Senate observers said, he extended his hand and said hello on the Senate floor. She breezed by him, offering a cool stare.

One week later, after the State of the Union address, the two senators found themselves doing back-to-back interviews on CNN. Mr. Obama went first, with Mrs. Clinton pacing a few feet away. Finally, an aide escorted her completely around the rotunda of the Russell Senate Office Building, avoiding walking directly by Mr. Obama.

Many Senate observers, even those close to Mrs. Clinton, say they believe she set the less-than-collegial tone. But Mr. Obama offered a glimpse into his own competitiveness two years ago when a Chicago television reporter told him about snagging a hallway interview with Mrs. Clinton.

“I outpoll her in Illinois,” Mr. Obama said. Then, realizing how his remark might sound, he added, “That was a joke!”

I hope Obama realizes Her Highness doesn't screw around. Luca Brasi would cross the street to minimize the risk of looking her in the eye. Of course it could be she has the same effect as Medusa. And judging by the warmth she emits, she must have looked in the mirror.

I had to add this campaign commercial from the Richardson camp. It made the mighty and most modest Obob chuckle. I still think he'll be Hillary's nod for VP.

    Missed That One

Apparently, SOTH Pelosi has been a infectous mix of a foriegn policy guru and scarf-stylish babe in helping GW with his Presidential duties. C'mon, she is couple heart beats from the Oval Office and she needs to practice meeting with dictators. Plus the sanctimonious charmer has our best interests while breaking the law, pissing off Israel, looking like a dingbat and mostly being herself.
She either met with Assad, who is behind the murder of a certain Lebanese critic that led to beautiful Ceder Spring, to make GW look bad (classy and respectful) or to create her won agenda (illegal). There have been some good points on her behalf ... not really. She screwed the pooch in a bad way. Here is some things she should consider
    from Fred Barnes:
Pelosi's visit to Damascus for talks with Syrian president Bashir Assad showed her ill-equipped to deal with the longstanding conflict between Israel and neighboring Arab states in the Middle East. She made three serious mistakes.
The complicated nature of diplomacy in the Middle East eluded her. She was in
way over her head. She didn't understand what she was dealing with. This was her first big mistake.
Her second mistake was believing the conventional wisdom in Washington that headway could be made with the Syrians if only we'd talk to them.
Pelosi's third (and biggest) mistake was thinking she could broker a peace between Israel and Syria. This was naive in the extreme.

    Robert Turner of WSJ
The Logan Act makes it a felony and provides for a prison sentence of up to three years for any American, "without authority of the United States," to communicate with a foreign government in an effort to influence that government's behavior on any "disputes or controversies with the United States." Some background on this statute helps to understand why Ms. Pelosi may be in serious trouble.

And if USA Today questions you
But Wolf can travel to Syria virtually undetected. Pelosi has an international profile. That guarantees her heavy media coverage but multiplies the price of a misstep, which she quickly made when she created confusion about how eager Israel is to resume peace talks with Syria. Israel immediately clarified her remarks.

Wolf is a Representative who claims to be Republican. Hopefully this other criminal is made fully aware of the Logan Act as he is prosecuted as well as Pelosi. The ethical congress we were promised was a sham the moment Rep. "Gladbag" Jefferson was offered a post.

    Be Careful Today

Being a favorite day of pranks and tomfoolery, I thought posting the usual shenanigans, declaring myself a democrat for examples of Congressional courage, observing Sharia Law for the sake of my daughter, cheering for the packers because I have a secret man-crush on farve etc.
But here are some great examples of the unreal deal of April Fool's Day hoaxes:

    #2: Sidd Finch
In its April 1985 edition, Sports Illustrated published a story about a new rookie pitcher who planned to play for the Mets. His name was Sidd Finch and he could reportedly throw a baseball with startling, pinpoint accuracy at 168 mph (65 mph faster than anyone else has ever been able to throw a ball). Surprisingly, Sidd Finch had never even played the game before. Instead, he had mastered the "art of the pitch" in a Tibetan monastery under the guidance of the "great poet-saint Lama Milaraspa." Mets fans everywhere celebrated at their teams's amazing luck at having found such a gifted player, and Sports Illustrated was flooded with requests for more information. But in reality this legendary player only existed in the imagination of the writer of the article, George Plimpton.

    #4: The Taco Liberty Bell
In 1996 the Taco Bell Corporation announced that it had bought the Liberty Bell from the federal government and was renaming it the Taco Liberty Bell. Hundreds of outraged citizens called up the National Historic Park in Philadelphia where the bell is housed to express their anger. Their nerves were only calmed when Taco Bell revealed that it was all a practical joke a few hours later. The best line inspired by the affair came when White House press secretary Mike McCurry was asked about the sale, and he responded that the Lincoln Memorial had also been sold, though to a different corporation, and would now be known as the Ford Lincoln Mercury Memorial

#7: Alabama Changes the Value of Pi
The April 1998 issue of the New Mexicans for Science and Reason newsletter contained an article claiming that the Alabama state legislature had voted to change the value of the mathematical constant pi from 3.14159 to the 'Biblical value' of 3.0. Before long the article had made its way onto the internet, and then it rapidly made its way around the world, forwarded by people in their email. It only became apparent how far the article had spread when the Alabama legislature began receiving hundreds of calls from people protesting the legislation. The original article, which was intended as a parody of legislative attempts to circumscribe the teaching of evolution, was written by a physicist named Mark Boslough.

    #8: The Left-Handed Whopper
In 1998 Burger King published a full page advertisement in USA Today announcing the introduction of a new item to their menu: a "Left-Handed Whopper" specially designed for the 32 million left-handed Americans. According to the advertisement, the new whopper included the same ingredients as the original Whopper (lettuce, tomato, hamburger patty, etc.), but all the condiments were rotated 180 degrees for the benefit of their left-handed customers. The following day Burger King issued a follow-up release revealing that although the Left-Handed Whopper was a hoax, thousands of customers had gone into restaurants to request the new sandwich. Simultaneously, according to the press release, "many others requested their own 'right handed' version."

    Obob's Spring Break

As I wrap up another Spring Break in suburbia, I have created a few awards for this week:
The Neville Chamberlain Award For Diplomacy:

Nancy Pelosi - for visiting Syria. She deserves a swift kick where the sun don't shine for blatantly playing immature politics. The absolute arrogance of disregarding the fact they are playing the entire world as diplomats floors me. The Syrians know they are the bottom of any decent country's shit list and want to stay there. Let Iran screw up, they are playing Pelosi like a fiddle.

The Who Are You Again? Award:

Geraldine Ferraro - she endorses Hillary, and she matters why? Don't give me that feminist line either, she was used like the Democrats use the black voter. Ferraro was a desperate attempt in the futile election of 1984. The unholy electoral ass whopping delivered by Reagan still scares the hell out of Democrats.

The It's Over, She's Dead Award:

To the media for that Anna Nicole person who died some how of an overdose. I feel bad for the baby, but Christ people, is money that important?

The You Are a Superpower, Act Like It Award:

to Great Britain for acting like a class A wimp and allowing their brave men and a women still hostage. The frigate the Brits were on should have introduced the Iranians to Allah very quickly, not been taken hostage and paraded like circus freaks. Frankly, I would be pissed to be a Brit.

The What's Thad-Mata with You? Award:

I like saying his name, Thad Mata.

Finally, the Are You Going to Eat That? Award:

Forbin (my brother) and I for having to call in the cavalry in inhaling 50 wings and three pitchers of beer this week. They were damn good wings.

    Having Fun

It's that time of the year again kids, primaries!!! Most of these local elections are obscure city council or other local positions, but they do matter. Tip O'Neal, who is the Sun god to Chris Matthews of MSNBC Hardball and the four people in America who watch it, said "All politics is local." That really is wrong direction of this post, but it gives me a chance to pick on the blowhard, thus I do it.
I was able to have a great talk to with a candidate for Noblesville's City Council running as a Republican, Mark Boyce. He was bright, had good answers, small business owner and once raced cars (legally) in his younger days.

From this enlightening conversation, I have created the official Obob Candidate Quiz. This applies to any position, even the Dog Catcher.
    1. In terms of illegal immigrants, do believe in prosecuting the illegal or the employer who williingly hires them?
    2. Do you believe smoking should be banned from bars or age restrictions placed on estblishments who allow smoking?
    3. Zoning, this applies to rural areas that are exploding with development. Should the city favor:
    >commercial - that Mexican resturant/Korean nail salon/Chinese buffet/CVS/Tanning salon you need around the corner
    >corporate/busniess parks - adds to you much needed tax base to keep your property taxes down, at least in Indiana
    >residential/giant flippin' hoods - yes I live in one, but you need bodies to vote and I have a pulse
    >agricultural - with a possible lean towards corn as a cash crop in aleternative fuels.
    4. Gay marriage, are you for an amendment to ban it?

With all modesty aside, these should be only questions you need to ask you candidate, even the President. I will now take my meds for my delusions of granduer.

If you want to know imact of illegal immigration in this country, I found this news clip which scares the crap out of me:

    Kissinger Doing the Weather

    Kissinger Doing the Weather
Back in the early 90s, I awoke with a wicked hang over one morning. As I sat on the floor watching the morning news, I swore I saw Harold Kissinger doing the weather. No one believed me. Professors discounted me. I have been vindicated.
