What a night

Waited tables tonight, keeps me busy and tragically what I consider a night out anymore. Back to reality, the friggin' loons were out. I felt bad for leavin' early due to high pings coming off my spider senses. But people, I can guarantee you someone will get thrown out. Either crying girl who looks like she was on a crack binge or bully chick who will sooner or later bust some one's kidneys. These are the women folk causing issues. Almost forgot about guy who fell off the wagon and landed on is face. He is as intense as a democrat frothing at the mouth about Sarah Palin.
Need another Old Style.
A little tip from little old obob. If you ever have to physically remove someone from an establishment. I highly recommend you use a bear hug from the side. Make sure you are under the arms and have your head against their back. First, your hands under the armpit make it difficult for them to pry them apart and break a digit. Second, your head against their back prevents a head but. Practice on a family member or loved one. Most important, do not let go unless you have sufficient reserves.
I've also wrestled two men off a pool table by first tackling them, then grabbing one by the neck and the other placing my knee on his chest. My arm was sore the next day due to repeated blows from one guy trying to hit the other as I attempted to subdue them.
Disclaimer: do not go out attempt to break up bar fights like Patrick Swayze in Roadhouse. Odds are you will get hurt. And the bar is not a Mos Eisley Cantina like on Tatooine. Far from it, we're way to suburban. But, alcohol and common sense coming to a grinding halt will result in random stupid things happening.
Just a little advice from your friendly neighborhood obob.

Obob got new frames

Getting new glasses really isn't a big deal, but humor is. As I was slinging beers Friday night, a regular kept calling me "Woody" after the late great Ohio State coach, Woody Hayes. Mostly the style of horn rimmed frames not punching out Clemson linebackers.

Eventually an attractive lady with an aversion to clothing covering up the landscape between her breasts sat down. After the regular introduced me as Woody, she commented she had a few friends named Woody and really enjoyed Woodys.

Needless to say; myself, the regular, and her fiancee kept giggling like little school boys as she tried to recover. It didn't work.

I also saw a twenty-something guy pick up a cougar. Outstanding.

Another Night Slinging Beers

One of my on and off again professions is a bartender. We were labeled the aristocracy of the working class in that Tom Cruise flick, Cocktail. Of course, to consider me privileged enough to be part of the proletariat is compliment enough. It's a decent penny to earn. Great neighborhood place with a very friendly group of constituents. Trust me, my wife is a nurse, her job matters, lives are in the balance. If your life hinges on not getting a drink in a timely manner set by the Genva Convemtion and more importantly my opinion, you'll live.

In fact, this were I met my wife and probably help create and destroy more marriages by being the vehicle of consumption. So it goes. I've also helped populate half county by those drunken romps a couple has after a good night of libations I've poured. So it goes.

Funny Fake

Brooke has a funny post with a fake ID and it reminded me of a favorite carding at the bar.

The bar where I have worked off and on since Bush 41 is a neighborhood type. And I have spoken quite fondly of my peeps in the past. A lot of the regulars and customers come from the hood behind the bar and the local Catholic church. In fact the priest that married my wife and I was a regular (Bourbon & Diet with beef nachos) Even though my wife isn't Catholic and I insisted on a Catholic wedding, she figured if she can have drink with the guy, he can marry us.

But I digress ...

One night I was behind the bar and a cute young lady walks up to get a drink, I ask for ID. She hands me one from California. A habit of mine is to ask for another form of ID when you have an out of state. She starts to pull out another one when I see a Rhode Island ID in her wallet. Rather confused, I then see one from Indiana which is here real one. Then I see her last name and I know her family from church. In fact, an older sister had just gotten a drink from me.
I asked if she was bi coastal with the Cali and RI IDs. She left.

Three months later when she was really 21 I bought her a drink. Heck, she's a Cubs fan and had a sense of humor about the carding.

The lesson of the story: I don't care how cute you may be, if you are underage I don't care. I'm old, ugly, and married to the owner's daughter.

NASCAR person

Not gonna lie, I'll watch some NASCAR now and then, but pretty much when I'm bartending and it's the short tracks at night. So my knowledge of the circuit is limited. With that being said, , we had a private party at the bar last night for NASCAR driver Clint Bowyer, the Jack Daniel's car. Our local Jack distributor put it on and it was fairly impressive. Free booze, outstanding ribs and a chance for the invited clientele to meet the driver. Nice guy, said the right things and they were harmless. This is nothing post, just curious if there was any background on this guy.

Fat Tip

Where was the mighty Obob? I blessed to work in a neighborhood bar with regulars who take very good care of me, but this is sick.

LONDON (Reuters) - A Middle Eastern businessman spent over $210,000 in a five-hour, champagne- and vodka-fuelled spending spree in a London nightclub at the weekend.
The unnamed big spender entered Crystal at midnight on Saturday with friends -- nine women and eight men -- and ordered a $50 bottle of white wine, a spokesman for the club said.

his party supplies:
- magnums of Dom Perignon at $1,400 each
- a Methuselah -- eight bottles in one -- of Cristal Champagne at $60,000
- a "night cap" consisting of a Methuselah of Belvedere vodka, which cost $2,800.

"He basically just said, 'keep the drinks flowing,'" the club spokesman said.
When the party left at 5 a.m., the bill was 81,471.50 pounds, which with tax and service added amounted to 105,805.28 pounds -- $218,000. It included the cost of six Coca-Colas.

Bartender etiqutte is to throw in a soda for the driver or just to keep the party going, but at what point are you padding the tab? Over the summer I've been telling customers I'm bartending in the off-season for the fence we had built and a playset for children, with the tip here I could put in the deck we're putting off for next summer.

Kissinger Doing the Weather

Kissinger Doing the Weather
Back in the early 90s, I awoke with a wicked hang over one morning. As I sat on the floor watching the morning news, I swore I saw Harold Kissinger doing the weather. No one believed me. Professors discounted me. I have been vindicated.

Marriage is love.
