Poll: Chavez has big lead before Venezuela vote
Survey finds that many government opponents worry about reprisals
CARACAS, Venezuela - Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez holds a wide margin over his main challenger as he seeks a third term in Dec. 3 elections, according to an AP-Ipsos poll that also revealed many government opponents are worried they could face reprisals for how they vote.
About 59 percent of likely voters said they would vote for Chavez for a third term, while 27 percent said they would support opposition candidate Manuel Rosales. Thirteen percent of those surveyed by the polling firm Ipsos for The Associated Press said they were undecided or wouldn't answer.
I am not going to go into the rest of the polling data, you can sift through it if you please. But what concerns me is the fear of reprisal. C'mon, let's be serious, do you really think if you vote against GW you face arrest? If so, we can talk about that later.
But the fact this is concern of people reminds me of the Klan infested elections of our past. Of course the left's lapdog Jimmy Carter will be telling us the elections were clean. Go build a house Jimmy. The underlying factor is fear. Fear that a man who already once been jailed for an attempted coup of his beloved Venezuela. He is slowly tyrning his country into an oil wealthy version of Cuba. Will he last? As long as people are afraid to vote hil out, yes.
