Iowa Has Spoken, Let The Infidels Tremble!!!!

Huckabee won, Romney got sent back to grad school, Thompson is still there quietly waiting to strike and McCain is planning his eastern offensive. So it goes.
Obama won, Edwards is alive for today, Hillary is pissed, and Biden/Dodd is out (yes, they were running and Dodd had moved his family to Iowa.) A sign of weakness for Hillary, I saw somewhere Richardson was about to offer his support to Obama. Which goes against my belief he would get the VP bone from Hillary. She does not take well to turncoats.
Huckabee's ultimate populist selling pitch:

"People are looking for a presidential candidate who reminds them more of the guy they work with rather than the guy that laid them off."

I read a few articles and of course I went to my girl, Peggy Noonan that journalistic cougar. She pointed the eminent demise of Huckabee with the brutally honest line:

I'm sorry to say it is my sense that Mr. Huckabee is not so much leading a movement as riding a wave.

And that echoed my sentiments.
As for Hillary, whom she holds in very little regard, Peggy Noonan describes the Hawkeye state smackdown result came from this scuffle:

His takedown of Mrs. Clinton was the softest demolition in the history of falling buildings. I think we were there when it happened, in the debate in which he was questioned on why so many of Bill Clinton's aides were advising him. She laughed, and he said he was looking forward to her advising him, too. He took mama to school.

She does take a shot at Rollins, Ed not the punk rocker Henry:

His (Huckabee) next problem may be not so much New Hampshire as Ed Rollins, the Reagan White House political aide who came in a week ago to manage his campaign. Mr. Rollins began his tenure announcing to respectful young reporters that he--"the grizzled veteran," the "old battler"--would like to sink to his knees and "shoot Romney in the groin" and "punch his teeth out." Such class is of course always welcome on the trail, but one senses the verbal ante will constantly be upped, and I'm not sure that will work well for Mr. Huckabee. Self inflated dirigibles, especially unmoored ones, can cast shadows on parades.

Which makes me wonder if there is bad blood somewhere from the Reagen era or the talking head circles.

I kinda feel sorry for the staffers who got roasted over the coals today. But Dick Morris warned everyone of her temper.

Hillary and Fred both get 3rd.

You call Fred's third place finish "quietly waiting," and Hillary's 3rd place finish is a sign of weakness.

Can you explain that?

As I remember, when Fred entered the race, he was going to be the second coming of Ronald Reagan. If that were true, where were the Reagan Republicans, Democrats and Independents to give Fred his win?

And Hillary, is still ahead in the polls nationally. And beats all the Republican candidates.

I'm not a Hillary fan. Just observing.

womanhonor - Love to see Hillary take a hit.
Shaw - if I had the answer to that about Fred, I would be whispering in the ear of the candidate. As Bill put it, he didn't win till Georgia.
Give it time on Hillary, give it time.

Shaw, slow and steady wins rhe race, but Hillary was expected to just run with the nominations. She is sinking fast, and I join others here in relishing her 3rd place in Iowa.

Kissinger Doing the Weather

Kissinger Doing the Weather
Back in the early 90s, I awoke with a wicked hang over one morning. As I sat on the floor watching the morning news, I swore I saw Harold Kissinger doing the weather. No one believed me. Professors discounted me. I have been vindicated.
