The winds of secession are blowing in the Green Mountain State.
Vermont was once an independent republic, and it can be one again. We think the time to make that happen is now. Over the past 50 years, the U.S. government has grown too big, too corrupt and too aggressive toward the world, toward its own citizens and toward local democratic institutions. It has abandoned the democratic vision of its founders and eroded Americans' fundamental freedoms.
A few things to consider:
1. Hopefully a farce, but this is co-written by a poly-sci prof. Thus the ivory towers provide an unrealistic view of the real world. Professors love to throw things out there that dangerous and illogical, see Ward Churchill of Colorado. The threat of secession is not only an act of treason, but deserves deportation to Iran or Mongolia. Wait, the Mongolians don't deserve them, how about France?
2. Howard Dean is from this state, which their chief economic exports are maple syrup and teddy bears. Howard Dean was one first anti-war candidates and is generally considered a browneye. He may be in a four way tie with Kerry, Casey of PA, and Webb of VA as the most arrogant of the DC residents.
3. Look at these two pictures and take them into consideration.
Atlanta being "redecorated"
Sherman was no saint. He was dirty, drank to much whiskey and succumbed to racist beliefs of time. But he was a loyal American who was offered a position in the Confederate Army while running a military academy in Louisiana. Instead, Sherman went North and became a fierce and tough general who believed in "total war." He wanted the South to pay for their selfish behavior and he burned Atlanta. It was a bunch of drunken Union soldiers who burned Colombia after they surrendered to save their city. But I have no pity for either city.
We are one country under God and there shall be no secession. Just because you lost election and you are whining because you didn't get your way, does not mean you can take those toys and go inside. Those toys, the states, belong to all of us. Look at the Civil War and you get the picture of the corporal punishment you will endure.

I don't think there will be another secession. However, I can definitely agree with the assertion that the gov't is too big and has abandoned democratic principals to facilitate their own corruption.
Our government has lost its ways, between the lobbysists, pork infested bills and the factions Madison warned us of, we need to get back on the path.
