Great pick, may not be a Ditka, but he will do wonders for the offense.
Countdown to Draft Day 2007 - Greg Olsen, Miami
Nike Rookie Football Class 2007 Pro Football Draft NFL
Greg Olsen TE 6'6 254 Miami Jr. 4.55
from NFL Draft Countdown.com
Strengths:
Has ideal height as well as the frame to get bigger...He has very good hands...A terrific athlete with fantastic timed speed...Runs excellent routes and knows how to get open...A much better blocker than he is given credit for...Can create after the catch...Somewhat of a wide receiver in a tight end's body and was really the Hurricanes top target at times...Still has some upside...Is also able to long-snap.
Weaknesses:
Does not have the ideal bulk that you look for...He is coming off of a sub par 2006 season...Won't break many tackles...He wasn't utilized as a deep / vertical threat much in college...Has room for improvement as a blocker...Durability is a concern.
Notes:
Brother Christian played quarterback at Virginia...A top recruit coming out of high school who originally signed with Notre Dame and he attended some preseason practices there transferring to Miami and redshirting...He did not have the type of junior campaign most were expecting but that can be at least partly attributed to shaky quarterback play...Not the elite prospect it looked like he would be early in his career but just may be the one tight end in this class that has star potential.

Olsen originally signed with Notre Dame, but after a few practices decided to transfer to Miami. He redshirted in 2003, and was the teams backup tight end in 2004. He caught 16 balls for 275 yards and a touchdown on the year. As a sophomore, he had 31 receptions for 451 yards and four touchdowns. As a junior, Olsen had 38 receptions for 444 yards and a touchdown.
Olsen is an excellent receiving weapon. He is tall, and creates a big target for his quarterback. He is a good athlete, and knows how to get open and make plays with the ball in his hands. Olsen has very good hands and will not drop many passes.
Olsen will need to bulk up and get stronger at the next level. He can have trouble with physical defenders that get in his face off the snap. He also is not a great blocker, and will need work in this area. Getting stronger would definitely help in this regard.
After an impressive post season showing, Olsen left no question that he will be the first TE selected. He could go as high as 14, but should be taken somewhere in the first round.
